About us
Who we are
Canberra Allergy is the newest allergy medicine practice in Canberra and provides your local comprehensive allergy service, offering help diagnosing and treating the full spectrum of food and environmental allergies for both children and adults. We specialise in the diagnosis and management of allergic disorders. We recognise that this area of medicine affects so many Australians, more than one in three – but often goes unrecognised as a subtle contributor to other, more widely known conditions like asthma, irritable bowel syndrome and eczema. We know that people in the Capital Region, the coast and the Riverina have struggled for a long time to access services that can address these problems directly – and we’re here to help.
Our team
Doctor Chris McCue, a specialist general practitioner with postgraduate training in allergy, endoscopy and internal medicine, founded Canberra Allergy after recognising that many of his patients struggled to find resources specific to their needs, both to find a cause for their symptoms and to support them in taking more control of their day-to-day lives. He has spent more than a decade working in both rural and regional settings around the capital region, from the south coast to northeast Victoria, and appreciates the challenges of living in some of the most beautiful but least well-resourced areas of Australia.
Doctor Sarah Tarrant is a GP Allergist, having completed her medical studies in 2014. Since then she has worked in regional Victoria towards her fellowship, with additional postgraduate study in allergy medicine. Sarah has developed a warm and thorough approach to managing common allergic conditions in children and adults. She is enthusiastic about providing education to her patients, to give them confidence in managing their allergies. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and watercolour painting.
Our allergy nurses, Marcia Stuart and Deanne Madden, are both registered nurses who use their extensive experience in holistic primary care nursing and the further education they’ve sought out in allergy medicine to help provide you comprehensive care. Their training includes the initial assessment of allergy patients, undertaking skin prick testing (which Australia’s peak body recommends as the primary method for the diagnosis of IgE mediated allergies), and administering allergen immunotherapy to help overactive immune systems re-balance and improve our patients’ lives.
